The NJMS Admissions Committee understands and is very sensitive to the challenges our applicants are facing as we all manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Most importantly is that we hope you are well and safe. The Committee has modified our policy and will accept “PASS” grades for any courses completed this spring or summer term. In addition, with MCAT dates in flux, we will evaluate each applicant’s personal situation with a one-by-one approach.
The deadline for submitting a complete AMCAS application is December 1st.
The Secondary Application and Letters of recommendation must be submitted by December 15th.
NJMS participates in a rolling admissions process. As soon as verified and completed AMCAS applications are received, the applications are screened. We encourage applicants to apply as early as possible.
Yes, all applicants receive the Secondary Application via email.
Secondary fee waivers are only granted to applicants who have been granted an AAMC Fee Assistance Program (FAP) approval on their AMCAS application.
NJMS will consider scores from any year. Applicants must take the MCAT no later than September in the year prior to enrollment.
We do not have any minimum requirements. For the entering class of 2020, the average overall GPA was 3.7, and the average MCAT was a 514.
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of Recommendation must be submitted by December 15th.
NJMS participates in the AMCAS Letters of Evaluation/Recommendation program for the current application cycle.
Your letter writer can forward your letter to AMCAS through the AMCAS Letter Writer Application, Interfolio, or Virtual Evals. Once AMCAS receives your letter, they will release an electronic copy to NJMS, as long as you designate NJMS as a recipient on your AMCAS application. All letters should be on letterhead and contain the letter writer signature.
You will receive an email once your application is complete. You can monitor the receipt of your supplemental application materials in your applicant portal. A complete application consists of a verified AMCAS Application, letters of recommendation, All MCAT scores, and the Secondary Application. Once your file is complete, we will submit it to the screening committee for review.
If the screening committee selects you for an interview, you will be notified via e-mail. Application screening takes place between June and February.
Yes, we accept updates to your application after your application has been submitted and verified. You can upload updates to your applicant portal and/or email updates to njmsapplicant@njms.rutgers.edu
